This is the first blog post in a series. These blog posts are created to help small businesses based on the lessons I taught to entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic.
Everyone has a dream they want to achieve, but some do not know how to go about achieving their dream. The first step is having a growth mindset.
A growth mindset is knowing that over time and through dedication, hard work, and learning from failures and setbacks you will overcome whatever trails are placed in your path, and one day you will achieve your dream.
A good example of a growth mindset from my time in the Dominican Republic is a girl named Meline. Meline was a single mom who had just graduated from a nearby catholic school with a certificate in sewing. She was renting a small basement apartment for her and her daughter. She also worked full time.
As we started to visit her we noticed that she was very dedicated to having her own shop for her products she makes. Every time we visited her she showed us new things from pillowcases to skirts to toilet seat covers. No matter what her schedule looked like she always made time for her dream.
Meline is an excellent example of a growth mindset. She never gave up on her dream no matter how busy she was in her life. She had her dream and then she set up goals to help her achieve this dream. Her main goal was to provide a good life for her young daughter. This is what drove Meline to do so much with so little time.
Once you know your dream you can have your purpose, then you can make plans, and set goals. These all build on each other and one day you will achieve your dream. No matter what setbacks you have in your journey it is important to get up and keep going.
