The Netherlands, also known as Holland, is a country located in the northwestern part of Europe, above Germany. The Netherlands has 12 provinces.
The city of Amsterdam is the most famous city in the Netherlands as well as the capital city. However, Rotterdam, a city located just east of Amsterdam is where the parliament of the Netherlands is located.
About 2,500 square miles of the Netherlands is made of reclaimed land. The land was taken by the sea, but due to the Netherlands’ famous water management, they were able to reclaim this land.
