ZARAHEMLA — Amalickiah, the man who wanted to be King of the Nephites, was seen fleeing the city. The search is on for the would-be king as people reported seeing him run towards the Lamanite land.
Amalickiah is accused of working with secret combinations to become king and overthrow the government. He lied and manipulated in hopes of gaining more power. He even went so far as to bribe government officials with promises of power and riches.

The Nephite people were greatly opposed to Amalickiah and his ideas for government, but they felt they did not have the power to stop him. Until a bold move by Captain Moroni captured the attention of the Nephites and rallied many supporters for his cause.
Captain Moroni, the revered military leader, tore his coat after hearing that Amalickiah wished to become king and turn the Nephite people into slaves. He wrote on his ripped garment, “In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children.” He used it to create a banner now referred to as The Title of Liberty.

The Captain rides through the Nephite land displaying his Title of Liberty, and is gaining more support in each city and town he visits as he gets closer to Zarahemla. A young boy from the tribe of Anti-Nephi-Lehies said, “I found great inspiration from the words on the Title of Liberty. My people are non-violent, and we do not wish for conflict, but we agree with what Captain Moroni stands for.”
The Nephite people are very grateful for the courage of Captain Moroni and his show of courage in standing up to corrupt government officials. The Prophet Alma said, “If every man were like Captain Moroni the foundations of hell would shake.”
Because of the bold move by Captain Moroni many of Amalickiah’s followers left his cause. Investigations were launched into Amalickiah’s activities soon after. Upon close inspection it was discovered that he bribed many government officials in order to garner their support in his attempts to become king.
Amalickiah and a handful of his followers were seen fleeing the city early this morning. It is speculated that he feared reparations for his illegal activities and decided to run. The manhunt is on for this terrorist who sought to destroy the Nephite Government.
