BRITISH COMEDIAN WRITES MYSTERY NOVEL
ICONIC British Comedian, Bob Mortimer ventures into the world of mystery novels with his highly anticipated debut book — The Clementine Complex.
Bob Mortimer is one half of the famous comedy duo Vic and Bob. Inspired by his appearances on the comedy panel show Would I Lie to You? Mortimer decided to write The Clementine Complex.
Bob Mortimer’s new book The Clementine Complex centers around Gary Thorn, an unremarkable legal assistant. Gary meets a beautiful woman one day, but she leaves before Gary catches her name. As Gary searches for her his coworker Brendan disappears.
Bob Mortimer says, “People really liked my daft stories,” on Would I Lie to You? “Some were true some were false. So, I decided to write my autobiography, and people really seemed to like the writing style.
“So in some ways, the novel is just a great big long, 6 or 7, hours Would I Lie to You? story.
“It’s good fun. It’s got talking squirrels.”
With the success of his recent autobiography, And Away…, Bob wanted to keep writing. On the panel show Would I Lie to You? Mortimer is famous for his outlandish tells. Such as; doing his own dentistry, cracking an egg into a bath, and encountering the local town witch, some are true and some are false.
He was told to write what he knew and wrote about his life going to school in South London. And how a young Bob who wasn’t so shy could have had all these adventures and met new people.
He describes the book as “boy meets girl with a little bit of mystery to keep it moving.”
This new book is stuffed with laugh-out-loud moments just as you would expect from a comedy genius like Bob Mortimer.
